UNIVERSITY ARTS CAMPUS

A former industrial building around a large anonymous courtyard was transformed into the University Arts campus with facilities for fine art, TV, music and games design.

ABW’s design retained the best of the original building, but removed the accumulated add on that obscured the original form. The legibility of the site and minor interventions create a series of entrances from the courtyard to form a unified campus. Creating a defined entrance also helps visitors and new members of the community find their way around. Honest materials and forms were expressed deliberately to provide identity and a sense of destination.

The buildings were upgraded to meet the current environmental standards by improving air tightness and their overall thermal performance.
