UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE BUILDING

ABW formed a successful competition bid to design a new entrance building for one of the country’s top-ranking universities. The campus is home to several significant buildings, including an iconic library building by Sir Richard MacCormack.

Wrapping around the existing 1960s building, the proposal aimed to improve the arrival for all who visit the campus. Taking advantage of the inherent qualities of the site, the scheme created stronger visibility of the University from the approach and framed views across the coastline.

ABW's proposal would also significantly boost the environmental performance of existing structure with the inclusion of renewable energy and reduction of energy use.
